JLN Govt College of Fine Arts is dedicated to maintaining an environment where every student feels safe, respected, and able to thrive academically and socially. In adherence to the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, this policy underscores our unwavering commitment to eradicate ragging from our campus and outlines the procedures for prevention, reporting, and addressing instances of ragging effectively. Policy Statement: Definition of Ragging: Ragging encompasses any form of physical, verbal, psychological, or sexual abuse or harassment imposed on a student, whether individually or collectively, as a part of an initiation ritual or otherwise. This includes but is not limited to:
Physical assault or violence
Verbal abuse, insults, or humiliation
Coercing or forcing students to engage in activities that cause mental or physical discomfort Creating an intimidating or hostile environment for new students
Zero Tolerance: JLN Govt. College of Fine Arts maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards ragging in any form. Every member of our community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors, is expected to uphold this policy. Any involvement in ragging, directly or indirectly, will result in swift and severe disciplinary action.
Reporting Procedures: Students who experience or witness incidents of ragging are encouraged to report the matter immediately to the Anti-Ragging Committee or the Anti-Ragging Squad, as mandated by the UGC guidelines. Reports can be made confidentially, and the identity of the complainant will be protected throughout the investigation process.
Investigation and Action: Upon receiving a ragging complaint, the Anti-Ragging Committee or Squad will conduct a thorough investigation, ensuring fairness and confidentiality. If allegations are substantiated, the College will take immediate disciplinary action against the perpetrators, which may include suspension, expulsion, and legal consequences in accordance with UGC regulations.
Awareness and Prevention: JLN Govt. College of Fine Arts is committed to raising awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and fostering a culture of mutual respect and inclusion. Orientation programs and workshops will be organized to educate students about the importance of respecting their peers and the severe consequences of engaging in ragging activities.
Support and Counseling: Victims of ragging will be provided with necessary support and counseling services to address any physical or psychological trauma they may have experienced. Additionally, counseling sessions will be offered to perpetrators to understand the gravity of their actions and facilitate behavioral change. Compliance and Review: JLN Govt. College of Fine Arts will ensure strict compliance with UGC guidelines on ragging prevention and regularly review and update this policy to address emerging concerns and improve effectiveness in combating ragging on campus.
