Code of Conduct Jawahar Lal Nehru Government College of Fine Arts, Shimla


Adapting the principles set by Himachal Pradesh University, JLN College of Fine Arts presents the following Code of Conduct to foster academic excellence, respect, and ethical behavior. All members of the JLN College community are expected to comply with these guidelines.
1. Academic Integrity Honesty: Maintain honesty in all academic work, avoiding plagiarism, cheating, and misrepresentation. Originality: Ensure all assignments, projects, and examinations are the result of your own efforts unless collaboration is explicitly allowed. Citation: Properly cite all sources and references used in your academic work.
2. Respect for Others Courtesy: Treat all faculty, staff, and fellow students with respect and courtesy.
Harassment-Free: Promote an environment free from harassment, discrimination, and bullying, including those based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.
Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts and grievances through appropriate college channels, seeking peaceful and constructive solutions.
3. Campus Behavior Conduct: Behave responsibly and avoid disruptive or inappropriate actions.
Substance Prohibition: The use of drugs, alcohol, and other intoxicants is strictly prohibited on campus.
Property Respect: Respect college property and facilities, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
4. Dress Code Appropriate Attire: Dress neatly and appropriately for the academic environment.
Special Requirements: Follow specific dress codes for special events or practical sessions as notified by the college administration.
5. Attendance and Participation Regular Attendance: Attend all classes regularly and punctually, meeting the minimum attendance requirements. Active Involvement: Participate actively in academic and extracurricular activities, contributing to a dynamic learning environment.
6. Technology Use Responsible Usage: Use college technology resources responsibly and according to college policies.
Academic Focus: Use personal devices in the classroom strictly for academic purposes, unless otherwise permitted by the instructor.
7. Extracurricular Activities Positive Participation: Engage in extracurricular activities in a manner that promotes personal growth and community spirit.
Balance: Balance extracurricular commitments with academic responsibilities to ensure neither is compromised.
8. Disciplinary Actions Consequences: Understand that violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspension, or expulsion. Fair Process: Ensure a fair and transparent process for handling violations, allowing students to present their case.
9. Community Service Engagement: Participate in community service activities as part of the college's commitment to social responsibility. Volunteerism: Promote volunteerism and contribute positively to the local and wider community.
10. Environmental Responsibility Sustainability: Adhere to sustainable practices on campus, promoting environmental awareness and conservation.
Waste Management: Participate in proper waste management and recycling initiatives organized by the college.
By adhering to this Code of Conduct, members of JLN College of Fine Arts contribute to a harmonious and productive academic environment, upholding the values and standards of the institution.
