JLN College of Fine Arts is deeply committed to upholding the principles of safety, dignity, and respect for all individuals within our community. In adherence to the Vishakha Guidelines established by the Supreme Court of India, this policy serves to provide a framework for addressing and preventing sexual harassment in our institution.
Policy Statement: Definition of Sexual Harassment: Sexual harassment is defined in accordance with the Vishakha Guidelines as any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature or other behavior that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. This includes but is not limited to:
Physical contact and advances
Requests or demands for sexual favors
Sexually colored remarks or jokes
Displaying pornography
Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
Zero Tolerance: JLN College of Fine Arts maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment in any form. Regardless of the status or position of the perpetrator, whether they are students, faculty, staff, or visitors, any act of sexual harassment will be met with severe disciplinary action.
Reporting Procedures: Individuals who experience or witness sexual harassment are encouraged to report the incident promptly to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) established in accordance with the Vishakha Guidelines. Reports can be made orally or in writing, and every effort will be made to ensure confidentiality throughout the reporting and investigation process.
Investigation and Resolution: Upon receipt of a complaint, the ICC will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation in line with the procedures outlined in the Vishakha Guidelines. The investigation will prioritize the confidentiality, safety, and well-being of all parties involved. Following the investigation, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the perpetrator, ranging from warning to termination of employment or expulsion from the institution.
Support and Resources: JLN College of Fine Arts is committed to providing support and resources to individuals affected by sexual harassment. This may include counseling services, legal assistance, medical support, and any necessary accommodations to ensure the victim's well-being and continued participation in academic or work-related activities.
Awareness and Training: The College will conduct regular awareness programs and training sessions on sexual harassment prevention and gender sensitization for all members of the community. These initiatives aim to foster a culture of respect, understanding, and gender equality within our institution.
Non-Retaliation: The College prohibits any form of retaliation against individuals who report instances of sexual harassment or participate in the investigation process. Any act of retaliation will be subject to disciplinary action as per the provisions of this policy and the Vishakha Guidelines.
